Author review: A friend wrote this to me: "The translation about the home movie theater systems is embarrassing, and probably done with an automatic translator, unless the name of the translator is any indication of his poor knowledge of Spanish ☹ When you mention in your book that people go to “the pictures”, it has been translated literally, not “cinema” or “movies” but literally “images”. And this is just one example in the few pages i could see in the Look Inside feature". |

Author review: He was fast with the first ten pages, but there were lots of mistakes in the text. When I informed him about the problems, he cancelled the translation instead of correcting his work. His reason: "Priority is given to other books". (Probably he works on lots of books at the same time. When I accepted his offer for the translation, he immediately offered to translate two more of my books, before I haven't even received the first ten pages of the current project.) Pro: He is fast. Contra: You'd have to invest time to correct his work afterwards, because he's not doing it. Er hat die ersten zehn Seiten seiner Übersetzung sehr schnell hochgeladen. Leider war der Text voller Fehler (Zeichensetzung, Großschreibung, Rechtschreibung, Wort-/Sinnfehler etc.) Deshalb habe ich ihn auf sehr häufige Fehler hingewiesen und um eine Korrektur gebeten. Stattdessen hat er die Übersetzung beendet mit der Begründung, dass er anderen Übersetzungen Vorrang einräumen würde. (Von denen scheint er einige gleichzeitig auszuführen. Sobald ich der ersten Übersetzung mit ihm zustimmte, schickte er mir sofort zwei weitere Übersetzungsangebote für andere Bücher von mir, noch bevor ich überhaupt die ersten zehn Seiten des aktuellen Projekts von ihm erhalten hatte.) Vorteil: Er ist schnell. Nachteil: Man muss bereit sein, hinterher Zeit in die Korrektur seiner Arbeit zu stecken, da er dies nicht macht. Andernfalls hätte man eine Übersetzung mit extrem vielen Fehlern. |

Author review: He was fast with the first ten pages. Although there were some mistakes (wrong punctuation, missing space, a few words translated with the wrong meaning), I agreed to the further translation without comment. I then dared to suggest an other titel for the book in the english translation, after this, he rejected the agreement. That's a very non-professionell behavior to me. At least, it had been a suggestion and I didn't even mentioned the mistakes. |
