Since 1984 I have earned my living by writing for radio and television in South Africa and I'm now writing books. I have published four books, 3 memoirs and a novel and will be publishing my second novel by August 2015.

From a very early age, I have always wanted to write, but was ordered to "get a proper job." Journalists were required to drink their targets under the table to get a story I was told, and alcohol doesn't agree with me! So I dutifully trained as a teacher, and have taught in seven different countries - from primary school infants to lecturing adults in Technical College. After suffering a mentally abusive childhood, I had little defence against the Walter Mitty aspirations of the man I married. We moved from country to country, seven in total, usually one step ahead of the creditors. Besides teaching, I had a variety of jobs including breeding Cairn Terriers, running the worst riding school in the world, teaching English, working in a supermarket, digging up dead Romans, as a chambermaid and washer-up in a hotel, radio announcer, disk jockey and news reader.

I was abandoned in the African bush with a seven week old baby, and after being kicked out of Libya, another disastrous project in Botswana, and being abandoned for the second time and left on a boat moored in Durban harbour, I found the courage to leave him and began to write and write and write. I graduated from radio, to television and then ran my own video production company, winning over 20 awards along the way.

I left South Africa in 2008 with my second husband to live in Spain and writing books while pretending be be retired. I am about to publish my eight book, the fourth book in my series about Amie the young girl I took from the comfort of her English home and dumped into a civil war in Africa. (Amie has yet to forgive me for this). Three of my other books are memoirs and the other is a comedy.
