I am a mother, a friend, a translator. In every sense. I like to translate one culture to the other.

Valeria Iacobelli, born on August 16, 1964 in Sassuolo (MO), Italy.

 

Education and experiences

- Academic degree in Philosophy (direction to ”Human sciences”, Psicology, Antropology, Sociology, Linguistic and Teather) at Bologna University, March 1988

- High School teacher (Philosophy, Italian Literature, History) 1988/1995 in Modena, Italy

- Freelance technical translator from English/Swedish/Norwegian/Danish to Italian and from Italian/English to Swedish 1986/1995

- 1988: First Certificate in English (Cambridge Centre of English)

- EU Course ”Desktop and Journalism” with stage c/o Resto del Carlino newspaper in Modena. I still work as freelancer for the same newspaper.

- I am attending “lärarutbildningen” at Karlstad University, Sweden. I will take my Phd. next year, (teacher).

- I am a professional technical translator and I take care of proofreading for other translators.

- This has been my job since 1994; I was employed in Italy (Viking) from 1996 to August 2003, in Sweden from september 2003 to December 2006 (Viking svenska).

- Freelance translator from January 2007.

I live in Sweden with my husband Peter and our son Love (a big surprise, he was born 3 and half months before the due date (November, 5, 2003) and daughter Lola (an even bigger surprise, as she came October 27, 2011) and I work both in Stockholm and Karlstad. I have completed my studies at Stockholms Universitet, where I have focused my attention on the Swedish language and at Karlstads Universitet, where I have focused my studies on Technical and Commercial English.

 

Hobbies:

I love scooba diving, I like to play electric guitar, play with my children, chat, take care of a webpage about preterm children in Italy, read, travel and take care of my old cars (Peter and I have a car workshop, we repair and paint cars and we and make nice airbrush drawings on them) depending on time, money and mood. I try not to forget to live every single day of my short life.
