Sunday 25 July

As I revved the engine and held the throttle, the adrenalin I could feel, seemed to pump right through me. The table top that I was aiming to clear loomed ahead and after watching my friend, Jai fly over it and land on the downward slope, I knew that I just had to do it too.

Jai is a really good rider, and I want to be able to keep up with him. This is my main aim but attempting to clear big jumps is pretty freaky! I knew right then though, that I couldn’t back down. So I gunned the throttle and took off.

Ever since my dad bought an old three-wheeler years ago, for my sister and I to ride around our property on, I’ve been hooked on motorbikes. We’re really lucky, because we have 10 acres and there’s heaps of room to ride. We had so much fun on that old three-wheeler, it really was an awesome thing for a little kid to have. Especially one who is motorbike crazy! But then again, what boy isn’t??

I used to double my friends and when they got used to it, they drove it around themselves. Dad thought it was really safe because of the three wheels. That made it easy to stay balanced. Well, that’s what we thought anyway. Until a friend of mine drove it into our creek that is! He’d been having so much fun, riding it around our paddock and had begged his dad for one more ride before they went home.

It was all good until Cam suddenly disappeared from sight, he had hit the slope that led down to the creek and was unable to turn the wheel. All we could hear was a blood curdling scream and when we raced down the slope to check out what had happened, the first thing we saw was the bike half submerged in the creek. Then Cam suddenly appeared, soaking wet. He’d gone into the water with the bike but had somehow managed to get free. He was pretty shaken up and really freaking out–crying and everything!
