Certified translator, passionate linguist and avid reader

I have been active as a translator since 2006. I am a dual citizen, bilingual in Italian and English. My main source languages are English and Italian, and my target languages are Italian and English. I also translate from German into Italian.I have worked mainly in the sectors of art and culture, design, architecture, humanities, tourism and philosophy. My key skills, apart from speed, reliability and precision, are dedication, curiosity and creativity.

 

As a linguist I think languages are fascinating in particular for their connections with cultures and social norms. Therefore, I find registers and genres especially interesting and when translating I pay great attention to style.

 

The main reason for joining Babelcube is my enthusiasm for reading. I read widely from news to essays to novels in my three working languages. My favourite genres are crime stories and sci-fi. I also like history, romance, adventure as well as teen and children’s books.  My dearest books, though, do not belong exactly to any genre or can be linked simultaneously to many. I admire how they redefine readers’ expectations and thoughts. I think that a translator must be above all a careful and experienced reader.
