Joe Perrone Jr is an author whose diverse background includes time as a sports writer with a prominent New Jersey newspaper, the Herald News, and several years spent freelancing as an advertising copy writer.  He has had numerous short stories published in the Mid-Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide.  Joe spent ten years as a professional fly fishing guide on the historic Beaverkill River in New York's Catskill Mountains.  Nearby Roscoe (known as "Trout Town USA") serves as the setting for Joe's second, third, fourth, and fifth Matt Davis Mysteries, Opening Day, Twice Bitten, Broken Promise, and Deadly Ransom.  As the Twig is Bent, the original book in the series, is set in New York City.

Roscoe is a place to which Joe returns as often as possible to fish his favorite waters and visit with long-time friends. In 2012, the Roscoe Chamber of Commerce invited Joe to be its "Celebrity First Caster" on the opening day of trout season.

In addition to his mystery series, Joe has authored one other novel, Escaping Innocence: A Story of Awakening, which is a poignent coming-of-age novel set in the tumultuous '60s, and two non-fiction books, A "Real" Man's Guide to Divorce (First, you bend over and . . . ) and Gone Fishin' with Kids (How to Take Your Kid Fishing and Still be Friends), which he co-authored with Manny Luftglass in 1997.  A revised edition was published in 2021.

All six of Joe's novels have been published in audio books, along with his divorce book.  As the Twig is Bent was translated into Portuguese as Pau que nasce torto by Rafa Lombardino of Word Awareness.  Both Opening Day and Broken Promises are recipients of prestigious Indie BRAG medallions.

Joe enjoys cooking, reading his Kindle, listening to music (anything but hard rock), car trips with his wife of 41 years, Becky, and relaxing with their dog, Willow Mae.  The couple live in Indian Land, South Carolina, just outside Charlotte, NC.  Joe welcomes comments and queries from readers via email at: [email protected].  He makes every effort to respond to all emails promptly.  He is also an active blogger, and readers can follow his blog at: www.joetheauthor.wordpress.com.
