Guillermo barrera gómez

I studied translation in the degree of MODERN LANGUAGES in the Autonomous University of Querétaro in the city of Queretaro, México. I also have a Master's in Translation from the University of Sheffield, in England. Translation has always been my favorite discipline and I discovered to have a facility to do the task.

As a professional translator, I have translated all kinds of documents, articles, manuals, contracts, medical reports, poetry, songs, short tales, etc. I became Certified Translator by the Supreme Court of Justice in my state, and thanks to that, I have translated a lot of documents which required to be certified, and interpreted in different trials.

I am a teacher of translation as well. I have thought in three different universities topics related to translation ranging from history, techniques, mechanisms, technologies, theories, literary translation, medical translation, legal translation, technical translation, methodologies, among other subjects. Therefore, I can proudly say that I have a lot of experience in translating and I am deeply aware of the fundaments, rules, procedures, standards and techniques of translation.

So far, I have translated three books: "Payback: Tales of Love, Hate and Revenge" and "Father Divine's Bikes", both from acclaimed author Steve Bassett; "And A Black Motorbike", from Spanish author Enrique de la Cruz. The three of them thanks to Babelcube.

Translating books has been a beautiful challenge and exiciting work and I want to continue doing this.

I could not have asked for more from Guillermo. He was eager and enthusiastic, despite being hit hard by Covid19. He has committed to translate the other two books of my trilogy. I highly recommend him to anyone seeking an English to Spanish translation.

Author review:
Guillermo once again has done an excellent English to Spanish translation of my book, the first novel of my Passaic River Trilogy. As with the second book, "Payback-Tales of Love, Hate and Revenge," his fluency in the American street vernacular was flawless, as was his patience. He has committed to do the third book and I strongly recommend him.

Mr. Gomez was a pleasure to work with . He asked me questions that told me he was working hard to do an accurate and professional translation of my book. He did a great job.

Author review:
Quality of the translated material was 95%. I had to verify some words which needed to be translated into Latin Spanish. The translator had translated it into a similar Spanish which is not a problem for anyone, only that in this specific project I wanted it translated into my Latin American Spanish. There was one sentence that he forgot to translate, I don't know if he didn't see it or if he overlooked it. Or maybe he thought the scene would be better without it. I translated it and added it to the final draft.

Punctuality in deadlines and communication I would give a 99% very responsible and attentive to instructions and messages. He can be a bit slow to respond due to his daily work at the university as a teacher.

Ease of communication I was satisfied with the communication. 100%

Availability of the translator to help market the book I will have to wait and see as it is not yet published.
