Francesco Zampa (author)

indie author of a new italian character (crime procedural)

Francesco zampa

I am 51, but I am a 5-years-old indipendent publisher.

I published a graphic novel about an italian soccer scandal (Calciopoli) and five novels (one prequel) with the character Maresciallo dei carabinieri Franco Maggio; "La Scelta", an historic novel set in Rome, october 6th-13rd october, 1943 and the last one, "Qualcuno che ti protegga", a coming-to-age novel set in Paris, 1947. The next one will be a collection of incredible short-stories, then I'm going to work about Maggio in his sixth novel.

In italian crime-fiction you find lawyers, policemen in the whole range, prosecutors but not the "maresciallo".

He is an usual role for family and prime time, not for crime fiction.

An italian maresciallo has the peculiarities to know everyone and everything in small places and to find solutions with a few means. So I thought to give him a main role like his fellow colleagues.

My character is a complete character, conscientous, a bit romantic, about untouchables. He as friends about every range of people. He want to understand and he has non prejudices, not too much.

He lives in a small village near Rimini, Viserba, a popular touristic place for easter holidays and not only. He faces big cases from unexpected things.

I sold more than 5,000 copies in the restricted italian market, by my own, and I think it's time to try the conquer of English-spoken market.

I'm looking for a translator who can give back my style and my breath. I think he/she should be fit if he/she like authors like John Grisham.
