The Junglies Haunt a Castle by Francois Keyser

Don't do anything dangerous without an adult....

The junglies haunt a castle

In the 9th book of "The Junglies" series, the friends do not want to wait for their friend the Jungle Man to arrive when they find a castle in the jungle. Their impatience and curiosity leads them to enter the castle with disastrous consequences.

Before they know it they are being chased by a ghost through the castle. Will they get away or will they find out who the ghost is?

This delightful story highlights to young readers that we should always be careful especially when we find ourselves in strange places. Rather than try to be brave we should wait for friends or adults who can help us and guide us.

"The Junglies' books all have a theme of "unity in diversity" in them with the characters being represented by different animals who are friends.

The series also serves as a good basis for teaching children about endangered species as each species of animal representing a character in the books has at least one sub-species that is endangered including rabbits!

Jungle Man the game warden represents man's ideal relationship with nature which should be one of protecting, nurturing and guiding.

"The Junglies" are enjoyable books for young readers and while being aligned towards ages 5 - 8 years old, they make ideal reading literature for parents to spend time reading to their younger children too.

Pages 4 & 5

One day the friends were walking in the jungle when they found a path they had not seen before.

They were curious so they followed it and soon they came to a castle.

It looked empty, dark and scary but they wanted to go inside and explore.

Pages 6 & 7

Abbit suggested that they should call Jungle Man so he knew where they were. The friends did not want to wait so they suggested that Abbit go and call Jungle Man while they explored.

The friends went inside and left Abbit. Abbit wanted to call Jungle Man but also wanted to see inside the castle.

Pages 8 & 9

Abbit decided to take a quick look inside before he went to call Jungle Man.

Abbit stepped inside the castle. The friends had split up and were exploring the castle separately.

Pages 10 & 11

Then Abbit heard a sound outside. Who could be outside? The sound came closer to the door.
