Taming the Tongue: The Power of Spoken Words by Alex Uwajeh

The words you use are tools of communication. However, it’s the way you use them that has the real power.

Taming the tongue: the power of spoken words

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit. For as a man thinketh in his heart, so is he. The way you use and choose words defines who you are. Words have power. God created the world with words.
The Bible plainly says, we shall decree a thing and it shall be established.
Are you ready to harness the real power of spoken words?

Speak God's Word out of your mouth

The Bible which is the Word of God tells us that, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” (Proverbs 18:21) For as a man "thinketh in his heart, so is he" (Proverbs 23:7) and “For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaks." (Matthew 12:34)

The Bible says in Proverbs 15:4, “A gentle tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit”

And, Proverbs 13:3 New King James Version

He who guards his mouth preserves his life,
But he who opens wide his lips shall have destruction.

Introduction

Did you know that every word you speak has the power to heal or harm?

Think about the words you use when explaining something to another person.

But when you get right down to it, the words you choose can create either a positive or negative result.  The words you speak can uplift and inspire people to love, laugh and achieve great things. Your words can also instill a sense of fear, hatred, and even hopelessness in the person who is on the receiving end.

Even when you speak words in innocence and without intending any harm, it’s still possible to affect other people’s lives. Your words may have been meant as a way to enlighten or teach or inform someone else, but to the person on the receiving end they could sting, belittle or even hurt if they’re delivered incorrectly.

Take Proverbs 18:21 for example, where it says “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof.”
