Night sky dreaming

Lost in life and unable to find honest and lasting love, Harry Fisher meets a glamorous and seductive stranger in London who helps him navigate the uncertain waters of desire and passion. Embarking upon an affair with her takes him places he never knew existed.

When the Blitz takes down the city, Harry knows he must fight for what is right by standing up for his country. Heading to Malta, a dangerous and bombed island under siege, Harry meets a nurse, Nan, who shows him what true love and devotion really are. Falling in love proves to be more perilous than the war he’s battling. When tragedy strikes, can Harry put the pieces of his life back together or will he spend the rest of his life dreaming of a lost love?

Sample text:

She was standing alone, waiting for me. I climbed the steps slowly, catching my breath, watching and afraid to blink. Her dress, the pale blue of a winter sky, was blowing tightly against her, dark hair billowing forwards. I noted the slenderness of her legs, the graceful arc of her back. The flickering sea, which so captivated her attention, swayed and curved in my ears. It had been two days since we first met, and already I missed her badly.

Nan stood with one leg bent behind the other, both elbows resting on the smooth surface of the wall. She leaned forwards. Two pigeons appeared suddenly from the sea below and she jerked upright, surprised, her hands now gliding gently, rhythmically, over the heat of the stone. In the distance, a cathedral dome glinted sharp golden sunbeams.

I began to cross the road and it seemed that Nan knew exactly where I was. She turned quickly, holding her arms straight out from her body, making the shadow of a cross. Nan smiled and it was then that I knew for sure. I rushed up to her, into her embrace, and into our new life.
