Sample text:

To Remmy James, Venice Beach was like a different world. The skies were electric blue and completely cloudless. The roads were wide and heaving with SUV’s and jeeps. Then there were the people; they all had fair hair, golden skin and flawless bodies. As Marcus’s open-top silver jeep drove along the broad walk Remmy peered out at her new town. The sand was more golden than the people (if that was possible.) She’d never been to the beach before, yet seeing it for the first time she had an overwhelming longing to run across it and find out what the grains felt like beneath her feet. Back in her old town called Sweet Lips, the cornflower blue skies were often overpopulated with clouds. Unlike the town’s population which remained at just ninety-eight men, women and children. The roads were narrow and surrounded by towering oak trees and long-spanning fields. And the people, they were kind, nurturing and always had a smile on their faces. To Remmy they were the best types of people and around them she never felt different. ‘Welcome to Venice Beach.’ Sandy, her golden-skinned, soon-to-be step-sister smiled at Remmy. Sandy placed her heart-framed sunglasses on top of her sun-kissed blonde hair before she lifted her arms up into the air and let out a ‘whoop.’ Remmy gave her a nervous smile but remained rigid in her seat. She looked over at her mom Janice who was sitting in the passenger seat. Regardless of her pale skin she was glowing, as she affectionately looked at Marcus. When they stopped at traffic lights he quickly turned to her mom and gave her a loving look. Her mom had announced that this would be a new start. That Sweet Lips was a town trapped in the past and it was time for them both to move on. Remmy didn’t want to move on, she wanted to remain in Sweet Lips where the memories of her dad were the most vivid.
