I was born in a small village in the countryside close to Switzerland's capital city, Bern. After finishing school, where I particularly loved the language, music and arts classes, I did an internship as a journalist at a local newspaper, where I could work on my writing and researching skills.
After a few months of travelling to Australia and the US, I started my Bachelor in Multilingual Communication in Geneva. The program required to study abroad for at least a semester - I decided to double that, and so I spent six months in Aix-en-Provence, France, and another six months in Siena, Italy. After completing my BA, I immediately went on to complete my training by earning a Master's degree in Translation.
When I was done with my thesis, I started working for the Swiss Federal Administration as a translator. After two short internships I got my current post as a full-fledged member of the Language Services at the Federal Statistical Office in Neuchâtel.
All the while, I kept accepting assignments as a freelance translator in various fields (industry, cinema, tourism etc.). Translating literature has always been a dream of mine, as I have been devouring books for as long as I can read. My preferred genres include fantasy, historical fiction, humour, mystery, romance, and science fiction.
To balance my translation work, I love travelling and getting to know foreign cultures and languages (on my travels to Latin America I have also picked up some Spanish), I read a lot, I sing in a choir, and for sports, I like jogging, cycling, swimming and Jazzercise. I love to roam through forests and parks, and enjoy the inspiring beauty of nature.
