Marie adjusted her blazer jacket and wiped the sweat from her brow before opening the door to the director’s office.

“Marie, it is a pleasure to finally meet you. I have heard so much about you. Have a seat.”

“Thank you, Director the pleasure is all mine,” Marie said before sitting down in the seat across from his desk.

She glanced around the room quickly to get the lay of the land. It was decorated with much more sophistication than the other agents' offices.

“Well, Marie,” he began. “You come highly recommended for this important mission and I don't know that you've gotten much information at this point besides the basics.  The first thing I need to tell you is that everything we talk about today is going to be confidential and that includes your supervisor. He is not going to be allowed to know the ins and outs of this mission.  This is coming from the highest level of the US government and you been selected for this mission because you have what it is that we need for this very important assignment. Marie, I have been reviewing your reports and you have done an excellent job in your years working for the CIA.”

“Thank you, sir,” Marie blushed.

Marie started tapping her fingers on the desk in that nervous way she did when she was feeling a bit unsettled. She glanced at her hand and noticed the nail polish chipping off the index finger on her right hand. She quickly pulled her hand off the desk and tucked both hands under her legs. I should have gotten a manicure. She was distracted. Geez, I have got to get it together.

Marie sat up straight and made direct eye contact with the director.
