Synopsis

 For a child who is rejected before his birth, he is left to battle for a future unknown. No one can give him freedom and identity he so desired. Along the years, he is exposed to a range of new experiences in the hands of his poor mother. The more he worries about this identity, the more he wanted to make the trip home to his native land. But how would he just go in search of a father who abandoned his mother when he is not born? He did not know. Still, he hope that someday will be a day. Ndudi knows that these experiences will give him time to go in search of his father.

My parents had three beautiful daughters and did not want another child. Mother became pregnant afterward and father decided in favor of abortion, while mother decided against it.

          “Tara, we shall have to terminate the pregnancy. I am comfortable with three girls” Father told her one morning.

          Mother did not say anything. She believed that in time father would change his mind.

          In time, the pregnancy developed that it could no longer be hidden and father kept ringing in her ears that the child should be aborted in her favor. Mother was not a good talker, but she could well carry out her plans without getting anyone involved especially her private life. She tried and carried her purging emotion with ease and flatly refuse to compromise even though, she could not openly confront father. She was well aware of how unpleasant life would be for her if she ignored father’s warning.

          “Master, let us keep this pregnancy. It is not in our blood to kill unborn children. I shall learn to adjust when this child comes. Our daughters would soon grow and  be married out according to the ways of women. No one knows what this unborn child would be” Mother pleaded.

          “Then we shall have to part. I will never live here and share the same roof with you and the unborn child. No.” He said and hit his fist on the table for the last time on that matter.

          Mother lowered her face and cried. She could not go back to her parents for she was an orphan displaced by war when father married her....
