The translator's compromise
Translating a text into another language can help to overcome language barriers and reach a new audience. But, as Friedrich Nietzsche has famously said, all translation is a compromise – the effort to be literal and the effort to be idiomatic. That is particularly true when it comes to literary translation.
Ideally, a good translation is one that goes unnoticed.
My Speciality
I specialize in translating literary, creative or journalistic texts that require more than just a word-for-word machine translation. Texts that require not only a good translator, but a good writer who has a feeling for the sound and rhythm of language and is able to convey the quality of the English source text to the reader, while paying heed to the linguistic and local particularities of both source and target language.
