I was born and raised in a town along the Hudson River, in upstate New York, called
Newburgh. After two years education at The Culinary Institute of America, in Hyde
Park, N.Y., I worked as a professional chef for 30 plus years, as well as being a licensed
massge therapist in Florida and N.Y. I was a voracious reader growing up. A few of my
favorite authors and genres include, Jules Verne, Steinbeck, Pema Chodron, C.S. Lewis, Edgar Allan Poe, Frost, Whitman, and many more. Fiction, selfhelp, philosophy,
religion, and history.
I started working on my first novel in 2009, titled If Frogs Could Fly. It was written
under my pen name, E.B. Mendel, and published by Sunbridge Books in 2016. First in
Ebook, then paperback. The novel is a strange tale about people, and what they become.
In 2020, I produced an audio book of the title, recording and narrating it myself. Kirkus
Reviews touted the book as "A highly imaginative tale . . ."
The 2nd book I wrote and published is titled The Help of Angels, a historical novel
based in Europe from 1933 to 1945. In 2022, a reader's review on Amazon said: "The
Help of Angels is a captivating and fast reading novel for all ages, especially for the
older teenager or young adult. The book reminds me of a period in history that should
never be forgotten. At the end of the book, the author's note draws reality into a
thought-provoking story; it should also provide stimulating discussions among
students in a classroom setting". Mary H.

I finished my 3rd novel, titled: The Miraculous Adventures of Willy Maze in June
of 2025, and is scheduled for publication in July the same year. Advance praise for the
book calls it: "An energetic & enjoyable read!" Cathi Hill, author and the first woman
mayor of Islamorada, Florida.
Between visiting local museums, yoga, traveling, reading, and his writing and
publishing career, Howard gives presentations on his books at local communities
and libraries.
