My name is Carmen Ugarte and I am a translator. I like letters, languages and literature.

I studied English and French at the Language Center of Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú, and then, I studied Bilingual Executive Secretariat.  

I worked as a Commercial Management’s secretary in a company which manufactured and commercialized wall and floor tiles.  In that position, I had the opportunity to write different kinds of documents, both in Spanish and English.  Then, I realized I really loved writing as well as languages.  That is why I decided to leave the company and study a professional career in which I could apply my writing and language skills.  In 2018, I successfully finished my studies after five years, obtaining the Bachelor degree in Translation and Interpreting by Universidad Femenina del Sagrado Corazón in Lima, Perú. 

At the university, I studied the different fields of translation in Spanish, English and French, being the literary translation the one I liked the most because I think this is the field where translators can develop their linguistic skills in the best way to convey the author’s idea, taking care of his or her style too.

At the moment, I am translating scientific-technical documents from English and French into Spanish and I am taking some online translation webinars.
