Dear All in this site, I'm a native Portuguese translator as well as a teacher. I translate and proofread from English, French and Spanish into Portuguese and from Portuguese into English. Furthermore, I've also been teaching English and German in many secondary schools in Portugal, for most of my life.
I graduated in Modern Languages and Literatures (English and German) at the University of Coimbra, School of Human Sciences, in 1979. In 1985, after submitting to a few tests at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa which aim was both to recruit residential as well as freelance translators for the EU, I've been approved as a freelance translator for the French and English languages. I did a project for the EU but unfortunately had to resign shortly afterwards due to family reasons. In the years to come, nearly ten, I continued carrying out some small translation jobs as well as translation training in paralel with my teaching activity. In 1997 I joined and was certified by the APT (Portuguese Translators Association) and since then have never stopped translating. In 1998-1999, I worked for the University of Minho (Braga, Portugal), School of Education and Psychology, translating and revising many academic papers. In 2000-2001 I translated a book from a Sociology Professor at the Boston College, Massachussets, to the portuguese Quarteto Publishers. In 2008 I've also become a member of www.translatorsbase.com (https://www.translatorsbase.com/User287186.aspx). My favourite domains of work are psychology, philosophy, psychodrama, sociodrama, sociology, yoga and children literature. I would like to do some academic work again and would be very happy to translate books in the above subjects. Translating is a very old and persevering passion for me and quality and accuracy is a banner, together with respect for clients and deadlines. In return, the same criteria and prompt payment is what I expect from them.
