The World is My Drum by Amber Richards

5 star children book about creative play

The world is my drum

For children, the whole world is an irresistible playground just begging for some fun. In the heartwarming children’s book,The World is My Drum, that fun is the sound of little Hudson’s crashing drums! You name it and Hudson can make it into drums and make them sound incredible!

Beautifully illustrated with watercolor, it inspires children to be creative, with ordinary objects around them.

Just wait till you see what he does with his homemade drums! It might be the concert of the century or it might end up a massive tangle of drums and pounding headaches! Either way it’s going to be fun!

Sample text:

There once was a little boy named Hudson, who loved to play the drums.

Hudson said, "I LOVE drumming!  It’s the joy of my life".

He had a small toy drum to play on and two kinds of drumsticks.  One set was soft on the end, and the other set was hard.

Hudson was always on the lookout to find what else he could drum on to make different sounds.

"I want to make a circle of drums around me, so I can turn around and around, drumming on different things and making new sounds" said Hudson.

Hudson learned what things he could strike with his hard drumsticks.  He could use pots or pans from the kitchen, boxes, the floor, a bed, pillows, plastic bowls, an oatmeal box, and some containers that held his favorite toys.  He could not hit people, walls, windows or other things that could break, though.

He found that he could drum more items with his soft drumsticks. A beach ball made a good drum.  He could use all of the same ones that he used with hard drumsticks, because it made a different sound.  Hudson's parents gave him permission to use the soft drumsticks on the wall, and other softer items around the house.
