The bed sheet serial killer

The Bed Sheet Serial Killer begins with FBI Agent Rick Clark and his forensic psychologist sidekick, Marty Robin, investigating a number of brutal and mysterious serial murders committed within a three-year-period. All of the victims are women, and though they share few physical traits, their backgrounds are similar in one important way. One important way, that is, in the twisted brain of the serial killer. While Rick and Marty speculate on personal events that may have created this moral monster, the reader becomes, if not sympathetic to the perp, at least more understanding of the role the past plays in creating a cold-blooded killer on a mission to save lost souls.

Sample text:

In a trance, I approached my house and stopped at the edge of the grass and studied the twisted body, its legs folded underneath. My eyes darted to my father’s revolver lying in the grass and then to my mother standing by the front door, her hair all in a mess.

As she came closer, she did not cry, even when she stood over his body. I noticed how her eyes looked vacant. There was nothing in them. No emotion, no feeling, no real understanding of what had just transpired. I knew there had to be a reason, but I didn’t know then what I would discover much later. That she had not acted entirely of her own will.

Back then, You had not yet revealed the mission You had planned for me. In my tortured mind, my mother had to pay for what she’d done to my father, but she needed to pay at the right moment. I wanted an assurance that her punishment would be eternal. For that to happen, her life had to be taken while she was in the devil’s lecherous grip, lying naked between his lascivious sheets, at the height of sin.

Later I realized that I’d asked for too much. I’d been blinded, driven only by vengeance. I didn’t understand the dire consequences of my actions. Once I did, I repented and dedicated my life to Your mission on earth, putting myself in Your hands.
