Sample text:

One of the greatest threats to confidence and self-esteem is criticism.  If self-esteem is the china shop, then criticism is the proverbial bull in said china shop.  Once unleashed, the destructive forces of criticism are all but impossible to contain.  They affect anyone and everyone, causing harm to the casual bystanders as well as to those directly involved.  Criticism is one of the attributes most strongly discouraged within almost all known religions, which should say something of its negative potential.  Overcoming criticism, therefore, is one of the most critical steps in the quest for healthier confidence and stronger self-esteem.

A boomerang is truly an amazing thing to observe.  When a person throws a boomerang, it comes right back to them.  Criticism acts in exactly the same way.  When you throw criticism at someone, you can be assured that it will come right back to you.  This is especially true when you criticize people openly.  The more you point out another person’s shortcomings, the more defensive they will become.  The natural response, therefore, is for them to point out your shortcomings.  Needless to say, the more that people criticize you, the harder it is to have a healthy sense of self-esteem.  Thus, criticizing others will only serve to cause you harm, undermining your own sense of self worth.
