It’s a beautiful August day in London. Daddy, Mummy, and Sean cling to each other as tourists swarm around them at the foot of the London Eye.
“No, Sean, I am not getting on that thing!” Daddy exclaims. “Please, do it with us!” pleads Sean, fidgeting with excitement. “You and Mummy go ahead. I’ll wait for you down here on the
grass,” says Daddy as he tilts his head back and gazes nervously at the huge white metal structure of the most famous Ferris wheel in the world. The glass Ferris wheel cars shine in the sun as they rotate slowly against the cloudless blue sky.
Daddy feels dizzy.
"No way…" he mumbles.
"Daddy, it’s safe! Look - all those people are doing it." Sean waves at the long line of visitors who wait patiently to get tickets.
"I don’t like heights," insists Daddy.
"But you can't let your fear control you! I’m scared too, of going to the FC Barcelona football camp," Sean confesses. "Still, I’m doing it, because it's important to me."
"This is not important to me," Daddy laughs. “I could live without going on this Ferris wheel.”
“It will be a great experience for us, Daddy. It will unite us as a family,” says Sean with a wink at Mummy.
Mummy laughs.
"Look, the cars are closed," Sean continues. "You cannot fall!
I'm only nine years old, and I'm not afraid to go."
A group of excited teenage girls in robes and white hijabs pass by. They've just got off the Ferris wheel and are giggling and chatting in excitement.
"Can't you try, Daddy? It's our annual holiday. We crossed the Atlantic just to be here!" says Mummy.
"I say we save money on my ticket," Daddy replies.
