Ham and cheese palmiers

This is a recipe that everyone is going to love. Can anything in puff pastry really taste bad? No, absolutely not! This will be just delicious. When your partner puts this delicious treat in their mouth, they will say those 3 words, but unfortunately not to you.

If you want to do a vegetarian version of these palmiers just change the ham and cheese for pesto or tapenade.

Ingredients

1 sheet of puff pastry (frozen or fresh)
4 oz / 100 gr of thin ham
4 oz / 100 gr of thin cheese slices (or the equivalent with grated cheese)
1 egg, beaten with a pinch of salt
Oregano (optional)

Preparation

On a lightly floured work surface unroll the pastry. Lay the cheese all over the pastry, do the same with the ham.
Starting at opposite ends of the pastry, roll both ends tightly so they meet in the center.
Preheat the oven to 220°C / 425°F.
Trim off the ends of the log and then cut it into ½ inch / 1.5-2 cm slices.
Then put the palmiers on a baking sheet. Leave some space between them, they are going to grow a little. Paint them with the beaten egg and add a bit of oregano on top.
Put the baking tray of ham and cheese palmiers in the oven for 10-12 min. Bake them until they are golden brown. Eat them warm.
