If you have a plan, you won’t be as stressed, you will feel more motivated and everything will just flow so much smoother. If you have less stress, you will be able to think in a clearer way, stay more relaxed and perform better. 

So how can you plan and reap all of these benefits in an effective way? Well, it all starts with planning early and in advance. Having a clear plan of your day is fantastic, but if you make the plan at 12pm, it isn’t going to be that effective.

A great way to do this is to start by planning your week and the tasks that you want to achieve. You can then look at your calendar, schedule in appointments and block out time to use for your work and projects. 

Ideally, though, you should try and focus on planning your whole month. Of course, there is a good chance that everything will change, but try and block in some time for work and the existing appointments. This gives you a great base model to work off, and makes it so much easier to manage your tasks and your stressors.

So the moral of this is: Plan as early as you possibly can and you will reap the rewards. If you can finish a task ahead of the deadline, then by all means do so. It will free up your time and leave you less stressed. Planning is a great tool and it is best that you try and get your head around it as quickly as possible, as it makes everything else fall into place better than any of the other tools in this book.
