Some says life begins at conception. Others say life begins at birth. But my story begins when I am beginning my primary education.

It is a beautiful morning. I am new in my locality, I am the newest person to be enrolled in primary school in my locality and soon I will be one of the newest students at my school. I am in my new student uniform as I follow my parent. Calmly, we are heading towards a school. This is a school I know nothing about but soon I will be endowed with all the knowledge I need to know about it. Whether we are there to visit someone or not is something I can not tell.

Soon we are at the entrance of the headmistress’ office. We cross it and behind a desk is a woman who after some time may become my headmistress. She welcomes as in and that begins a discussion between my parent and her. I can tell the conversation is centered on me even though they are speaking in the English language and I am not conversant with the language as at now. At least I have heard my name, age, and other things about me mentioned in the conversation. This was not any ordinary conversation. Instead it was the exchange of information needed to enroll me in the school. I am the newest member of primary one at my school now. With the registration done, the headmistress hands a piece of paper to my parent. I believe nothing is written on it other than the list of books and other items I would need for school. We are out of the office now and are walking on a veranda infront of a number of classrooms.
