Sample text:

The second step is preparing yourself and your surroundings for meditation. Meditation is related directly to the mind, as you can understand by now. It is advised that you keep your mind alert. Do not consume alcohol, as alcohol inhibits your ability to think. Try and stay away from prescribed drugs as most have side effects. Alertness of the brain is dependent on the time of day. People are usually more alert in the morning than in the evening; this is hormonal and depends on the hormone cortisol. So meditate in the morning, as your mind is alert and focused. There are instances when you may want to avoid scheduling your meditation, such as right after a meal or late evenings. You can also practice meditation just before you sleep as it not only helps you to master a meditative technique, but also you sleep better and faster. The same has to be said about smoking! Do not meditate, at the very least, half hour after smoking. Cigarettes contain nicotine which affects your brain functioning.
