I was found by a river one full moon night inside a wooden basket when I was two months old.

According to the old couple who found me, I was wearing a leather necklace with a large wolf’s tooth attached to it.

The name ‘Amelia’ was engraved in it.

I live in a small Bulgarian village. My adopted mother had a heart attack and died a year ago on my seventeenth birthday. My adopted father died a month later.

He didn’t want to live without his beloved wife. It was a full moon night and I was able to see everything with clarity.

Today is my eighteenth birthday and I decided to go hunting for wild boar or red deer. So far I had only been able to kill a couple of rabbits. Suddenly, I felt a pain so sharp that made me go down on my knees.

My skin was expanding; my bones were stretching and contorting.

My joints were twisting and bending the wrong way. My mouth and nose started growing forward.

Massive amounts of long hair were growing all over my body. Loud, painful howling replaced my human screams.

As soon as the pain stopped I stood up and walked toward the river.

My beautiful long brown hair was not there anymore.

My amber eyes were covered by tears. I appeared to be a lot taller than my 5’6” height.
