“Morning Mum.” Jeffrey gave his mother a squeaky kiss.

“Good morning. You are up very early today,” his mother said and broke off a piece of cheese for him to eat.

“That’s because I’m going on an adventure today,” he said with excitement.

“I don’t know Jeffrey. It’s been raining and I think I saw a cat hiding in the bushes yesterday.”

“Aw, Mum. I’m big enough now and I promise I won’t go far,” Jeffrey pleaded.

“Well, you have been a good mouse, and you are growing up. First you will need to eat your breakfast and do your chores,” she said.

“Yay, thank you, thank you, thank you,” he squealed. He was so happy he felt like doing a cartwheel.

Jeffrey ate his food and helped clean the mouse house. “Can I go now?” Jeffery was eager to go exploring.

“Alright, but remember to look out for cats and humans,” she cautioned.

“I will. I promise.” He kissed her and raced out the door to start his adventure.

Jeffrey walked on a dirt path jumping in puddles along the way.

Jeffrey found an old boot sitting on the path filled with water. He couldn’t resist climbing in for a swim.

Floating on his back he splashed and kicked his legs. He played for a while and then decided to climb down the boot and continue exploring.

“This is a great day,” thought Jeffrey, realising he had already had a lot of fun.
