Elegant Slow Cooker Herby Chicken




1/2 a lemon, juice only
155g (5oz) sugar snap peas
1.5 kg (3lb) whole chicken
335ml cider bottle
2 garlic cloves, peeled & sliced
About 2.5 onions, peeled & each cut into 8/12 wedges
2 bay leaves
2 carrots, peeled & sliced
About 2.5 thyme sprigs, plus extra for garnish


First of all, please assemble all the ingredients at one place.
Please firstly squeeze the lemon juice over the chicken & rub it in well.
Now we can proceed to next most important step.
Now cut the onions into wedges, & peel & slice the carrots & then place in the bed of the slow cooker.
Then place the chicken on top & then pour the cider over the top.
Cover & place on a low heat for 4 hours.
Add the sugar snap peas for the last 10 to 15 minutes of cooking.
Then lift out the chicken onto a serving plate, tipping any juices back into the casserole.
Now please let the chicken rest in a warm place for 5 to 10 minutes.
Just one thing remains to be done now.
Then cut the chicken into portions & arrange in hot individual dishes with a portion of the vegetables.
Finally garnish with thyme.
