Hello, my name is Emily and I'm eager to help you translate your story to the world.

My name is Emily König Tietböhl, I'm 21 years old and I'm from Brazil.

I'm currently a law student at the Universidade do Extremo Sul Catarinense (UNESC) and I'm doing an internship at The National Treasury Attorney's Office.

I speak fluent English and Portuguese is my mother language.

I'm very passionate about writing and I've always paid attention very carefully to the way words are put together. I think foreign languages are beautiful and an interesting way of getting to know people and sharing experiences and - hopefully - I intend to learn as many as I can.

I started learning English since I was 5 years old, in elementery school and I never stopped ever since. I used to practice my listening and writing at home, since we couldn't afford paying a language course, playing music CD's in our CD/DVD player and I would listen to the lyrics and try to write them down in a paper, then, I would look after my English teacher at school and I would ask her to read and revise to see what was wrong and what was not. She then told me about a Language School called "Yázigi Internexus", at the city of Osório, Rio Grande do Sul, that I should go and look them up and try to do an online test, just for the sake of it. And I did. They called me on the next day and booked an interview with me. I talked to my mother and she agreed on going with me by bus to this city next to ours - I was only 14 by then, after all. I was very excited because I'd never had the chance to talk to anyone in English outside the class, and even so, I never really had to speak in that foreign language because, as a matter of fact, our teacher didn't push us too hard - not because she didn't want to, but because she wasn't motivated -, because no one took English seriously. But I did. And that's why I was in that small room, in that green building, talking to the owner of that green building, trying very hard to gather every knowledge I had until then to answer the question: "So, Emily, tell me, how was your summer vacation?", to which I answered: "I go to the beach... Visit my dad... Very nice". You see, I knew what she meant, but I had shortage of linguistic content to let her know that.

I started off in the 2nd level, because I already had a notion of the language and as the time went by, months later, I was asked to be a monitor there, which I happily agreed. And months after teaching skipping-class-students, I was asked if I wanted to have a class of my own, which I happily - and fearfully - agreed.

I studied there for 4 years, and taught about 1 year and a half of this time. I learned, I read (most of the books in the available library) and I got more and more fascinated about English.

My translation skills goes as far as translating resumés and abstracts of undergraduate thesis, but I would like to expand my knowledge and I hope this is the right place for it.
