My name is Claudia Goyenechea, I am a Mexican freelance translator, and I love reading and writing. I started studying English when I was three years old and went to a bilingual school. After finishing high school I had the opportunity to go to Germany, where I lived with a German family and went to school to learn German. When I came back to Mexico I studied BA in Translation at the Superior Institute for Interpreters and Translators (Instituto Superior de Intérpretes y Traductores) there I also learned French and Portuguese. As I was in college I participated in the 1st and 2nd Student Translation Contests, and I was the winner in the 2nd Contest, translating a short story. To get my degree I did a thesis, which I called Analisis crítico de la trauducción de la obra The Waves de Virginia Woolf. (Critical Analisis to the Spanish translation of The Waves, by Virginia Woolf). My thesis director was the Cuban writer Andres Jorge Gonzalez, who gave me invaluable support and help.
I have 21 years of experience, translating technical, scientific, medical, and general documents, since 2009 I have specialized in the imaging branch. I am also a certified Kundalini Yoga Teacher by KRI, therefore, I have also translated lectures from Yogi Bhajan Ph.D.
Although I have always worked as a freelance translator, covering technical, scientific, and medical translation, I want to start translating literature and have more job opportunities. I hope to begin translating for writers soon. And to make a translation career here.
Sincerely
Claudia
