Minimalism: simplify your life live with less and happiness your life

In this book, author and photographer Thomas Hilmersen shows how you can train yourself to see more photographic opportunities around you, how to translate those opportunities into stunning photographs, and how to edit the resulting images. He also gives advice on how to "become one" with your equipment, and how to choose the best camera for your needs.

We live in a world that conditions us to think that more is better and bigger is best. Minimalism is often regarded as an extremity, a weird fad that seeks to limit your choices. However, as you may have already found out, more just means added clutter and bigger has little to do with quality. In truth, you need far less than you may care to admit.

Just a few simple steps in the direction of organization can have an amazing effect on your well-being. Your home is a reflection of yourself. By starting at the physical level of organization, you can begin to curb your messiness in all other areas of life.

Sample text:

You’ve learned some simple techniques to start being leading a simple and minimalist lifestyle, this last part of the book gives you 7 important things that you need to remember on your journey to minimalism.

Writer them all down.

Create a list of the reasons why you want to go minimalist. The list might include becoming free from debt, not having enough time with family, or wanting to have a restful sleep.

They can be anything, just write them down. Knowing the reasons why you want to change your life will help you in identifying the things that really matter.

Get rid of duplicates.

Fill a box with duplicates. You will always find 2 sets of something in your house: 2 sets of measuring cups, 2 sets of placemats, or 2 copies of a book or magazine. Put all of the things that you will find in the designated box. Label the box accordingly and keep it in your attic or basement for 30 days. If you get by for the next 30 days without having a need for the things inside that box or you don’t even remember what you put there, donate them all.

De-clutter.

For every set of tips about minimalism, de-cluttering is always included. You know the drill. Make an inventory of the things in your cupboard, kitchen drawers, nightstand, bedroom drawers, and shelves.
