To be a translator, the first step is to understand how the story is built

Sunniva sunnarvik

I'm a 20 year old girl, new to translation, but good in text. I've been writing novels and short stories since I was around 9, and I love every single thing about it. Through this I'm self-taught and really passionate about what I'm doing. Psycological thrillers and dramas goes in the favorites ones.

Doing research online, speaking and writing through social media, and even translating my own stories for fun, have brought me close to the english language. Believe it or not, even playing games made english stick to my brain like glue.

I've wanted to do translation for a long time now, and especially with novels because I have a lot of experience in that field myself (which I think is important when you translate a story). To understand how a story is built is something every translator should know to be able to find the correct, and even the perfect words, to formulate sentences the right way, and to keep the red thread throughout the whole story. When you translate something, the meaning and the formulations in the story should be nearly the same in both the original and the translated version. Even if I'm new to translation, we all start somewhere, and to be good we all have to get the chance to build ourselves up.
