Goddamned good translator (and author!) with vast experience. I translate from German and English into Spanish

Robert brockmann

My name is Robert Brockmann. I am a Bolivian national with a German family background. I am journalist turned historian. I worked as editor at the Latin-American Desk in the Deutsche Presse-Agentur (dpa) in Germany, mainly from German and English into Spanish (1990-1997). I worked in several Bolivian newspapers reaching the position of Editor-In-Chief and later I worked 16 years at the UN and meanwhile translated the books "Auf nach Amerika! Deutsche Einwanderer erzëhlen ihre Geschichten" ("¡Hacer la América! Descendientes alemanes cuentan sus historias", Gisbert, 2017), and "Guttentag - Das Leben des jüdischen Verlegers Werner Guttentag zwischen Deutschland und Bolivien" (Guttentag - La vida del editor judío Werner Guttentag entre Alemania y Bolivia", Quipus, 2020).

I haven't translated a book from English into Spanish yet, but I deem it vastly easier than from German. Anyway, in my years as journalist and UN official I have trasnlated uncounted articles and documents to English.

What gives me a competitive edge is that I am also a successful author. I have published four books that were national best-sellers in Bolivia: 1) El general y sus presidentes (Plural, 2007); 2) Soldado, rebelde y marica (Plural, 2007); 3) Tan lejos del mar (Plural, 2012); 4) Dos disparos al amanecer (Plural, 2017), and 5) 21 días de resistencia (to be published in 2020). So I really know my way in Spanish, be it narrative, or formal bureaucratic, thechical language.
