Since I was a child, English language and literature have always been among my greatest interests. I used to take very seriously what my relatives used to tell me: "That who won't learn English or how to use a computer, will be the illiterate of the 2000s" - a sentence that could sound a bit creepy and threatening for a child. The fascination I started to feel with English (especially thanks to the competence of my elementary and middle school teachers) allowed me to practice it since when, at age 12, I went on holiday to Scotland with my family and then, aged 14, to a summer school in a college in Dublin. The bent I had for English found then an additional outlet thanks to my passion for rock 'n' roll music: at age 15 I started playing the guitar and singing, and all of the artists I used to listen with the rest of my friends were English or American. So, when we decided to take the next step and form a band to try to make music ourselves, I started writing songs with English lyrics, a praxis that I have never abandoned to this day. I found translating concepts and ideas into English an exciting challenge, as English perfectly suits the rock 'n' roll sound. This drove me to take up another challenge in subsequent years: to start reading books (the classics especially) in their original language, like "Moby Dick" by Herman Melville, "Paradise Lost" by John Milton and also a biography of my favourite rock 'n' roll performer ever: Kurt Cobain. This praxis has helped me enormously in improving my vocabulary and in becoming familiar with the syntax of language. My experience as a Bachelor and Master graduate at University of Pisa has put me in touch with several works of foreigner authors, which I had to read in their original language and then translate into Italian.
