I was born in France, in a family of diverse origins, resulting from migratory flows. When I was two years old, my parents moved to Algeria where I spent 15 years. I studied in French schools where different nationalities and languages from Europe and the Maghreb were mixed.
In 1983, I graduated with a Bachelor of Arts and Mathematics with honours. Nourished by my experience of life abroad and the relations with the Spanish branch of my family, I chose to study Iberian literature and civilizations (Spanish, Portuguese and Catalan) while pursuing my studies in English. I completed a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and a diploma of advanced studies (DEA) in Iberian and Ibero-American studies at the University of Lyon II, obtained at the age of 22 with honours.
After 6 years of teaching in high schools and universities, I decided to specialize in translation. Admitted to the direct entry examination at the Institut Supérieur d'Interprétation et de Traduction (ISIT), I graduated in 1995 as terminologist, translator and liaison interpreter in the French-Spanish-English combination.
Although I live in the Paris region, I have kept links with Lyon and Spain. My frequent stays abroad, particularly in Spanish and English-speaking countries, allow me to maintain an active link with my working languages.
Interpreting represents half of my work. However, translation has a prominent place in my heart. My first experience of literary translation was El sombrero de tres picos by Antonio de Alarcon, a 19th-century author who championed the "poetization" of reality, that is, the observation of reality in an idealizing way.
Since then, I have always focused on texts that give the translator some freedom of writing, without disregarding the author's style. I am particularly fond of editorial translation, translation of short stories, biographies, children's books and art books. My last works as a literary translator were the translation into French of El corazón del árbol solitario, by José Maria Rodriguez Olaisola, s.j. edited by La Vie chrétienne in 2021 and more recently Imagine : Vida y canciones de John Lennon, by Lazaro Droznes.
