Michele casellato

Hi everyone! My name's Michele and am an Italian guy who is passionate of foreign languages. I can speak fluent English, French and Spanish; then I have a pre-intermediate level of German and a basic level of Russian.

Since 2017, I have worked as an Export Business Developer for Italian manufacturing company System Group (PE, PP, PVC pipes), based in Lunano (PU, Italy). As part of my job, I do marketing activities, research of new clients, translation/revision of IT > EN, FR, ES technical/commercial documents (e.g. catalogues/pricelists, technical data sheets, technical reports) and communications to visitors (e.g. notices, security norms).

I had my first encounter with foreign languages at primary school with English. It was love at first sight! Year by year, I decided I wanted to enrich my English knowledge also by myself, so I started to read books and watch movies in English. Meanwhile, I had an opportunity to improve my language skills during my travels abroad, especially in the UK, where I attended three English summer courses at some language schools (2004, 2005 and 2006).

As my passion for languages incresed more and more, I chose to study foreign languages at university. As part of my Bachelor's in Moderrn Civilizations and Foreign Languages (University of Parma, Italy, 2008-2011), I studied English, French and Spanish; the main subjects were languages and literatures. During this period, I attended two Spanish summer courses at the University of Salamanca (Spain, 2009 and 2010) and obtained BULATS (Business Language Testing Service) certificate in Spanish; moreover, I spent a semester at the University of Metz (France, 2010-2011) as part of the LLP/Erasmus program, a precious experience both from a personal and academic point of view that gave me a possibility to become more independent and practise French significantly. Moreover, during my Bachelor's, I approached business subjects thanks to a Business English summer course I attended at the University of Oxford Brookes (Oxford, UK, 2011).

To gain more language competences in business, I studied Lanugages for Communication in Businesses and International Organizations as a Marster's (University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Italy, 2011-2014). The main subjects were English and French (intercultural communication and mediation and translation), as well as a number of exams related both to international business and international law. During this period, I also started to study German thanks to a summer course at the University of Freiburg (Germany, 2012) and I continued to study it by myself.

While continuing cultivating my passion for languages (I also began to study Russian by myself), I obtained a Master's degree in Marketing Management at the Catholic University of Milan (2015-2016), in order to study in-depth marketing, a subject I had particularly appreciated during my previous Master's. I studied a comprehensive set of marketing subjects, from strategic to operational marketing.

In 2016, I carried out a curricular internship in Marketing at sportswear company Champion Europe (as part of my Master's in Marketing Management), where, among my responsibilities, I had to translate corporate documents both of internal and external communication (Italian into English and English into Italian).
