Hello!

My name is Marie and I'm a French native speaker from sunny Monaco.

I moved to London in 2008 to study Finnish and translation and graduated in 2014 with an MA in Translation Theory and Practice from University College London. I have been working in video game localisation ever since, starting out as a localisation QA tester. I am now an in-house translator and editor, which involves translating video games and related website content, press releases, promotional materials, newsletters, trailer and interview subtitles, and generally anything that isn’t available in French but should be. I also work freelance in the following language pairs: Finnish – French, Finnish – English, English – French, French – English.

I love translating and I love playing, my favourite games being story rich visual novels, JRPGs, and point and click adventures. Which brings me to my “other” (read: “first and foremost”) passion: reading.

I have been an avid fiction reader for as long as I can remember, my preferred genres being crime, adventure, science fiction, and, to a lesser extent, historical novels. I mostly read in French, English, and Finnish. My all-time favourite authors are Agatha Christie, Anne Rice, René Barjavel, Martha Grimes (in the excellent French translation, as her titles are unfortunately not available in the UK), and J.K. Rowling (as well as her crime-writing alter ego). I also thoroughly enjoy books by Oscar de Muriel, Clive Cussler, Arnaldur Indriðason, Patricia Cornwell, Genevieve Cogman, Jean-Christophe Grangé, Fred Vargas and Leena Lehtolainen.

If you have a crime, science fiction or adventure book in need of translation into French, and you believe I would be the right translator for it, please get in touch!

Author review:
Accurate work, but this translator clearly prefers pay-per-word contracts over royalty shares. Very short project (less than 900 words), yet complained about the royalty share. Recommend hiring her off Babelcube and paying her upfront if you are interested in her work. Will not request another Babelcube project with her.
