Hello, my name is Luis Cano, I'm a bilingual freelancer translator and I also work at a local newspaper, and as an interpreter, so I get to write a lot, which I love.

I was born in Chihuahua, a frontier state with the US. It's not difficult to find people that understand english, being a frontier state. However, it's not so easy to find real bilingual people. I had the fortune of finding the language easy, or maybe I just got used to it because of all the movies I watched and videogames I played (and I'm talking about the 90s, when there wasn't many language options in videogames)

Most of my practical knowledge, however, came from working a year and a half at a call centre, I used to be a CSR (Customer Service Representative) for DirecTV, and I quickly became a FloorWalker, which means I wasn't taking my own calls anymore, I was actually taking tha escalated calls. That means that I would speak to customers who requested a Supervisor. And since my deparment was billing, We used to get a lot of escalated calls. All this calls were in english, and my direct supervisor, a pretty cool guy, came from the States and didn't speak spanish at all, back then. That'a where I got my Proficiency. 

Besides that, I went to college here in my city to study literature. I love reading and writting, and translations are one of my main interests. I actually gave a few conferences on the theme back in college. I just graduated a few months ago. 

I would say I have a 90% proficiency eith the language, but, when in doubt, I always look up words or sentences I'm not sure to fully understand, I don't beleive anyone can fully know a language, even if it's their native one. Other than taht, I can easily read and translate Italian, although I can´t fluently speak it.
