My first translation experience comes from growing up in three different countries at once and helping my parents with paperwork during each move. A bookworm growing up, I developed a passion for grammar and languages very early on and I would correct the books I was reading in English, Dutch or French from as young as 10 onwards. I went on to work in the tourism industry while studying journalism and translations were a daily pleasure in both of those fields for me. I proofread books written by friends and acquaintances as well as editing film reviews and translating reviews for theatre in all three of my mother tongues. Technical translations were next as I worked for a multimedia company for all three markets. A degree in English literature and next I was teaching English as a second language. I have now set up my own business teaching, translating and editing. My mother tongues are Dutch, French, English all at native level in every aspect. I also master Spanish, German, Portuguese and Welsh although I am not native level in them I am comfortable reading, writing and speaking them.
