Fani koutsoukidou

Hello!

My name is Fani and I am a freelance English to Greek translator, based in Greece.

Let me tell you a few things about my journey so far.

I completed my MA degree in Translation at the University of Surrey, UK. I also hold a BA in English language from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece. Throughout my studies I acquired great linguistic skills and worked on a wide range of subjects for translation purposes, both scientific/technical and literary ones. Moreover, I developed methodically my abilities in interpreting, revising, editing and creative writing.

Additionally, I have completed a 5-month-traineeship in the European Commission in the Directorate General of Translation in Brussels, which proved to be a life-changing experience.

Since I finished my studies, I have been working with agencies and have completed a number of projects for major clients, such as the EU, Toshiba and Bosch.

Literature plays a huge part in my life and literary translation is my life goal. My first amateur attempts were made as an editor in a free-press magazine. For my column, I translated parts from books and songs I chose. During my undergraduate studies, I attended a literary translation workshop which enabled me to translate extracts from “The Catcher in the Rye” by J. D. Salinger and “On the Road” by J. Kerouac. The next year, my MA thesis was devoted to the translation of “The Visions of Gerard” by J. Kerouac, a project which proved to be extremely demanding. I have also translated a published Greek comic series into English.

Feel free to check my profile on LinkedIn or contact me to ask more questions.

I'd love to meet you!
