Before I began translating institutional documents for the World Bank and literary works for independent publishers, I spent two years reviewing essays written by primary and secondary school students.
I am a self-taught English speaker, having developed my proficiency through years of independent study alongside extensive reading and exposure to English-language media. I am also currently studying Italian.
When transferring a text from one language to another, the goal is generally to strike a balance between domestication (adapting the work to the target culture) and foreignization (preserving the original as much as possible, including its syntax). Personally, I evaluate each sentence individually before deciding which strategy to apply, always considering the specific needs of the text.
