Brazillian freelancer translator with more than eight years of experience.

Hello, my name is Bruno, and I'm searching for books to translate from English to Portuguese. I have eight years of experience working as a freelance translator and proofreader in several different fields. If you're interested, you can read further to understand my experiences in the field.

In 2013, when I was 17 years old I got an integral scholarship at the University of Cruz Alta (Unicruz), where I majored in Biomedicine for three years before withdrawing. There I did several translations of academic papers from English to Portuguese for my classmates and teachers, in addition to making abstracts and full academic article translation from Portuguese to English. After the first year, I started having several clients even from outside the college. Therefore, I have expanded both my experience and my technical vocabulary (especially in chemistry, biology, medicine, and general academical language).

To continue working with languages, I got into college again: this time studying Languages (bachelor’s degree focusing on the Portuguese language) at UFSM. For two years, in addition to my studies and academic research, I worked as a freelancer translator and part-timer proofreader in a junior company called Grámmatos Junior. Through these years I explored language from its various aspects and communication purposes. The main topics of research were Portuguese language grammar and semantics, proofreading, linguistics, and literature. Through linguistics, I also studied translation aspects: the limits of interpretation, usage of synonymous, context, et cetera.

After seeing that the degree itself wouldn't do that much for me and that the classes that I would attend for the next two years were not focused on translation, I decided to change my major to Music (focus on Education), where I still study communication but from some new angles. Today I still attend several classes from my old major, while studying translation from other sources that are specific to this topic.

I am seeking jobs in the translation field and I know my experience and my eagerness to learn would make me a good fit for your book.
