My training is as a biologist, but having lived – as a child and adult – in the US and Portugal, my condition as bilingual opened the doors to work in translation, which I began professionally in 2005 alongside research and teaching. I've done bidirectional translation (portuguese/english) of written texts in a variety of different fields and forms (different academic disciplines, advertisements, a novel) and also do simultaneous translation.
