Translation Studies MA graduate translating from English into French.

Originally from Switzerland, I moved to the UK to finish my BA in English Language and Literature with an Erasmus semester. I then gained work experience working in customer service roles for three years, before completing a MA in Translation Studies at The University of Sheffield, I will graduate in January. My dissertation was an annotated translation exploring the translation of cultural elements in a play. Throughout my MA, I learned to translate a variety of texts, and developed a particular interest in literary translation, hence my dissertation topic. 

I am currently undertaking a range of translation, subtitling and transcription projects, with particular emphasis on the education and voluntary sectors including:

• Newsletter and book launch announcement; The Royal Canadian Academy of Science (via Per Mondo).
• Report investigating the child labour market in the Democratic Republic of Congo; Labour Market Assessment PACE Consortium DRC (via Translators Without Borders).
• Resources used for the Toolkit on ASRH (via Translators without Borders).
• Recently commissioned to translate a range of academic education and research texts in field of education, psychology, child development.
• Transcribing discussions between trainers and teachers, and between teachers and kids at the Haute Ecole Pedagogique, (from 2016).
• Transcribing and subtitling a range of TED talks including ‘Why we need to change the way young men think about consent’.

My attention to detail, resourcefulness and commitment to high quality results define my work ethic. Being able to share knowledge and experience across different languages as well as rendering vital information, stories and history available to various cultures and languages is at the heart of my passion for translation
