Sample text:

My heart was pounding heavily. I tried to urge my hesitant feet to move faster toward my new boss's office, but to no avail. He'll fire you anyway, so there's nothing to lose was the mantra repeating in my head.

The faces in the cubicles around me looked like the comedy and tragedy masks. The ones who weren't fired today congregated in happy clusters, each showing off the new tablet they'd received. The ones who were fired wore devastated expressions while packing their cubicles alone. I desperately yearned to be a part of the first group, but I knew that my odds of keeping my job at Travel Secrets magazine were close to nil.

I was still berating myself for not jumping at the chance to pitch him my idea at the staff-meeting yesterday. Sometimes I was such a chicken! There was no reason for Ryan Brooks not to fire that girl who clammed up. But now that he was our Editor-in-Chief instead of Todd Potts, I had to stay. Working for him would be a stepping-stone to my dream of running my own magazine, the likes of which had never been seen before.

He'll fire you anyway, so there's nothing to lose.

As I reached his office door, a young reporter named Ruth burst out of it, crying. I reached out to pet her shoulder, but she jerked away, her sobbing worsening. I watched her hunched shoulders as she rushed away. I shook my head, breathed deeply, and walked inside.

“Sit down, Rachel,” said Ryan, motioning to an office chair in front of him. My throat was too dry to reply, so I just nodded and sat down. A part of me was incredulous and excited at the opportunity of talking to one of the most successful twenty-something tech-millionaires of our century, as the media had dubbed him. But my survival instinct was frantically looking for a way to stop the inevitable from happening.

He'll fire you anyway, so there's nothing to lose.

Italian
Already translated. Translated by Verdiana Rigoglioso
Author review:
Verdiana did a great job translating my novel, and during the Covid-19 pandemic, too! Because I personally do not speak Italian, I asked a friend to check a few pages of Verdiana's work. My friend's Italian is a bit rusty, having left Italy for the U.S. over 40 years ago. Anyway, she came back with three challenges, and Verdiana explained her choices for each segment. My friend approved everything and admitted that Verdiana knows Italian much better than she does! I liked Verdiana's explanations too, and hence, I trust her translation. I would definitely use her again.
Portuguese
Already translated. Translated by Virgínia Grangeiro
Author review:
I'm very grateful to Virginia Grangeiro for her translation of Travel Secrets into Portuguese. After I read the translation, I had very few notes for her. We went over it together and made a few small changes. Virginia was patient and helpful at every step. I'm delighted that thanks to her hard work, my friends and family in Brazil would be able to read my novel in their native tongue.
