The Winds of Kedem by Roger Radford

Revenge and retribution in the Middle East. Only one man can save Israel from a nuclear holocaust...

The winds of kedem

Mossad agent David Katri is torn between duty to country and to conscience as he battles to prevent an Arab terrorist plot to destroy the House of Israel. His implacable foe, Rashid Sedawi, is determined to bring about the end of the Jewish state. The action switches between Mossad headquarters in Tel Aviv and the Syrian Desert, between the teeming Shi'ite suburbs of Beirut and Pakistan's secret nuclear base near Islamabad. The streets of Stockholm and snow-bound Vienna also become soaked in blood as Katri finds himself tangled in a web of deceit spun by Arabs, Christians and Jews. A web where even love has a price.
The Winds of Kedem is a heart-stopping tale of vengeance, courage, love and betrayal ...

Tanks now guarded all entrances and exits to the area. French Crotale surface-to-air missiles and anti-aircraft guns watched the skies, ready to pour venom on any intruder. During daylight hours the Pakistani air force patrolled back and forth.

Colonel Abdulaziz did not have cause to lack confidence as he climbed into his Jeep, his driver fired the starter with one hand and thrust the gear stick into first with the other before moving off in a cloud of dust towards the front of the convoy. The might of the Pakistan Armed Forces was based around Rawalpindi. As far as the colonel was concerned, this was just another manoeuvre.

In the night sky, another man had no reason to be apprehensive. Capt. James Tindall eased back on the throttle as the giant 747 settled into its regular flight path to Islamabad. British Airways flight two-two-three had proved as uneventful as it usually did. The stopover in Bahrain had taken its customary hour. The passenger manifest recorded that thirty passengers had disembarked in the Gulf state and that twenty had taken their places. He was now responsible for three hundred and forty-six passengers and a crew of twelve. The plane was running perfectly smoothly and there was no reason why it should not reach its destination. There was also no reason why he should not be back in Pimlico within the week. He had promised his two sons a trip to the safari park at Woburn, and being away from home as much as he was, he did not aim to disappoint them.

What Capt. Tindall could not know was that five of the passengers who boarded in Bahrain possessed an assortment of small arms and a number of hand grenades. Nor could he have been aware that each carried one and a half kilos of explosives in a pouch around his waist.
