The Temple of Transparent Walls by J.R. Boleyn

Rivals in the snakepit of the Draconian empire; the Vatican, National Security Agency, and international banking cartels hunt down a message from the gods for all of humanity.

The temple of transparent walls

When Wilhelm Reinhardt, a well-seasoned, world renown professor of archeology and translator of ancient texts is hired by a dubious American mining company in Mexico to decipher the inscriptions on a 5,000-year-old golden artifact he becomes a hunted man in possession of a dangerous secret. And what business did an ancient Sumerian artifact have turning up in the Yucatan anyway? At his antiquarian bookshop in Amsterdam, Wilhelm deciphers the initial inscriptions that sets his alarm bells off. And what is the mysterious white powder of gold that keeps appearing and disappearing from the golden disc? The philosopher's stone or a superconductor for powerful weapons integration? Hidden clues begin to unravel timely events that point to the city of seven hills, Rome. When Wilhelm tries to warn his own half-brother, Cardinal Gregory Germaine, Gregory wants him dead. What Wilhelm doesn't know is that Gregory is part of an ancient Vatican cult plotting to kill the ailing pontiff and gain control of the Church. Wilhelm quickly learns Germaine is not the only one who will kill to know the unfolding secrets of coming world events revealed by the golden artifact. The US Attorney General, in her bid to nail the shady Global Mining Corp who discovered the artifact, seeks the aid of Taylor Cole, a former Delta Force operative and old friend of Wilhelm. It isn't long before they and their co-conspirators are caught in a tempest of secrecy and lies in a deadly race against time to stop the New World Order from executing their imminent agenda for global domination. No heaven - no hell - just a double-edged riddle in a chase across Europe that leads down a trail of international intrigue, deception, betrayal, and murder - according to the Mayans, a perfect day for the end of time. Except for the date, 2012, is wrong. And Protocol ION 20/20 is almost here!

Christian’s head swam. He swayed again, covering his eyes as though they were still on fire. He staggered down the sidewalk. Where had he been? What vile force had seized his mind? It was his final thought.

The impact of the bullet from the high-powered rifle sent his body hurtling through the large plate glass window of the Paradox, shattering into a million splinters from the sheer force of the collision. The young couple at the table near the front was heard screaming from inside as hot blood and brain matter splattered across their horrified faces. Christian’s body lay sprawled in a heap on the floor, and in a panic, the couple made tearful signs of the cross, followed by prayerful pleas to dead saints in a language nobody could understand.

Reinhardt tugged at his weather-beaten jowls and allowed his gaze to carry him deep into the well of the Great Pyramid of Inscriptions. In the midst of his epiphany, he heard a great gong tolling away and the dry rasping sound of terrible laughter inventing a drama of tragedy whose audience was one.

"Do you hear it? The sound of our souls calling to us from thousands of years past and from thousands of years ahead to be more than stubborn revolutionaries blind to the realities of our own peril. I have already faced the end of that world, where the horizon of time stretches far beyond this present moment, and the part I play in this endless passing scene of eternity."
