Sample text:

Matt was wearing a white shirt, a black skinny tie and on his face was a warm smile.

'Hey,' he said.

'Matt, you look very smart. You're a bit early,' Elizabeth said, feeling completely underdressed. 'You have to let me just change and then I'm ready to go. Do you want to wait with Paul?' she asked.

'Come to the kitchen. I'm cooking, you can help me,' Paul said, taking the hint.

Elizabeth bounced back up the stairs and rummaged through the dresses on her clothes rack. Everything was going wrong. She could hear Paul making small talk with Matt downstairs, Matt's deep voice reverberating up the stairs.

Why is he dressed like that, she thought, we're just going to the high street... and this is Hounslow, not Park Lane. Why am I freaking out, anyway? This was just supposed to be a casual date. There's no time to think, get changed, it already looks crazy.

She could hear that Angela and Nicko's conversation had stopped in the next room. Had she told him that she went on a date with Matt after she had already met him in the garden for the first time? Doubtful. Was it an uncomfortable silence?
